This year, the WHELF Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) Group will be running an online Teachmeet on Wednesday 26 April 2023, 12:30-14:30 on Zoom.

Our intimate, active Teachmeet will showcase some of the wonderful EDI good practice taking place in Wales. The event will centre around a carousel of themed small group guided conversations. Each small group discussion will be opened by a brief presentation from the discussion facilitator:

Topic: “Identifying and executing small wins within larger problems”

Lindsay Roberts, Cardiff University: Building a ‘critical appraisal for anti-racism’ tutorial

Topic: “Creating inclusive spaces, policies and culture for Library staff and users

¦ Catherine Finch, University of South Wales: Inclusive influencer: library spaces/projects and their drivers

Topic: “Improving representation in library collections and reading lists”

¦ Lori Havard, Swansea University: Diversifying Collections Project

There will be an opportunity to share your own good practice, ask questions and plan for the future as we discuss challenges and celebrate successes within our small groups as well as the larger Teachmeet as a whole.

Please complete our online registration form in order to be added to our event mailing list:

We will be sending everyone on our mailing list a Padlet link in advance. This will be used as a pre-event activity, as well as throughout the session. Our aim is to create a thought-provoking participant-driven event that is one part Library Camp and one part Lightning Rounds. Each small group discussion will be opened by a brief presentation from someone with experience on the topic. Details on these presentations will be circulated closer to the event.

We’re looking forward to seeing you there and sharing in the experience together.

Many thanks,

WHELF EDI Excluded Voices Committee
