WHELF and AdvanceHE: Leading Change on Race Equality in Academic and Research Libraries
WHELF recently arranged bespoke training from AdvanceHE on Leading Change on Race Equality in Academic and Research Libraries.
The training comprised three sessions, each lasting three and a half hours. The sessions were led by two inspiring and passionate facilitators, Dr Lindy-Ann Blaize Alfred and Jennifer Fearon, who encouraged WHELF colleagues to reflect on and challenge beliefs and current practices.
The programme aimed to:
Strengthen knowledge, skills and confidence to lead progress on race equality in HE and research libraries;
Deepen understanding of how leaders can effectively and authentically champion anti-racism and race equality.
Provide a supportive facilitated space for honest conversations about racial inequality and the challenges that libraries (and their leadership) face in addressing it
The sessions were very interactive and thought-provoking, encouraging us to share experiences and look for ways to effect change within our institutions.
Many thanks to Lindy-Ann and Jennifer for delivering the training.
