Welcome to Mark Lester – University of Wales

A warm welcome to Mark Lester, Librarian for the University of Wales who is currently acting as maternity cover for Bronwen  Blatchford until the end of 2014. Mark graduated in 2009 from the then fledgling information and library management masters course at University of West of England. He is working on a secondment basis from Cardiff Metropolitan University where he has worked since 2005 – first as an information assistant then a senior information assistant (with a stint as a maternity cover subject librarian as well in between!). Most of his library experience has come from working within a physical space – directly with collections and students. So, the challenge of working with a purely online library and remote students was one that attracted him to taking on the position.

His interests in the library world include digital literacy, electronic and open access resources, customer journey mapping and learning spaces. He is also partial to a stat and a bit of benchmarking.
