BAVALINC (Bridgend and Vale Libraries in the Community)is a co-operative scheme involving public, FE and some independent libraries, with a focus on joint training, marketing and resource sharing.

The Chartered Institute of Library and Information Professionals (CILIP) Cymru/Wales came into being on 1 April 2002, and is a Branch of the UK Chartered Institute of Library and Information Professionals. CILIP was formed following the unification of the Library Association and the Institute of Information Scientists and replaces the Welsh Library Association in Wales.

CyMAL supports the development of local museums, archives and libraries services; provides the Minister for Culture, Welsh Language and Sport with authoritative policy advice; gives advice and financial support to local museums, archives and libraries and develops and implements policies appropriate to Wales.

GaLW (Gateway to Libraries in Wrexham) is a co-operative between a number of libraries in Wrexham, which aims to share expertise and resources with anybody who works, lives or studies in Wrexham. This service aims to provide enhanced opportunities for lifelong learning and leisure activities.

The Gateways to Learning partners include five public library services (Blaenau Gwent, Caerphilly, Monmouthshire, Newport and Torfaen), two further education colleges (Coleg Gwent and Ystrad Mynach College) and one higher education institution (University of Wales, Newport) - a network of 56 branch or campus libraries and learning resource centres throughout South East Wales. The aim of the project is to widen participation in lifelong learning and make it more accessible, particularly to people in disadvantaged communities or circumstances.

Gathering the Jewels (culturenet Cymru) is a web-based resource discovery tool giving access to digitised material from a number of libraries, archives and museums in Wales.

Reciprocal interlending scheme between Ceredigion Public Libraries, University of Wales Aberystwyth, University of Wales Lampeter, and Trinity College Carmarthen.

LINC y Gogledd is a cross-domain reciprocal borrowing scheme between the University of Wales, Bangor, the public library services of three local authorities, Conwy, Gwynedd and the Isle of Anglesey and three Further Education colleges, Coleg Menai, Coleg Meirion Dwyfor and Coleg Llandrillo.

The Museums, Libraries and Archives Council (MLA) is the national development agency working for and on behalf of museums, libraries and archives and advising government on policy and priorities for the sector.

NEWLIS (Newport Libraries & Information Services) is a group of the major library services within the Newport area set up to promote mutual awareness of information resources between library and information services in the Newport area. Its benefits include: improved access to information and resources for the Newport area; promotion and support of lifelong learning; increased awareness of learning opportunities in Newport's schools, colleges, universities, public libraries, in the health sector, within community education and in the private sector.

The Society of Chief Librarians is a professional association made up of the Chief Librarians of each library authority in England, Wales and Northern Ireland. SCL aims to take a leading role in the development of public libraries by influencing statutory, financial and other decisions.

Wales on the Web is an all-Wales portal providing access to Welsh validated online resources. This portal now hosts the Collections Wales resource discovery tool which provides access to collection-level descriptions of library collections and contains comprehensive coverage of research level collections across Wales.

Welsh Journals Online will be a new web resource, available free to all. It will contain searchable texts of all the major Welsh and Wales-related journals, including academic, cultural, literary, scientific, historical, archaeological and political publications in Welsh and English. NLW, supported by WHELF, has received funding from JISC and the Welsh Assembly Government to undertake the scanning and indexing of 600,000 pages from journals published after 1900 in a two-year project running from January 2007 to December 2008.
