The British Library is holding two workshops for WHELF members, providing more information on DataCite – a service providing DOIs for the citation and linking of research data.

These afternoon workshops are an introduction to DataCite for organisations and institutions in the UK. We will explain what DataCite is, what it does and how you can work with us in the UK to assign DataCite DOIs to your research data, making it more easily citable and discoverable. They are aimed at those from the central university services of WHELF members, with roles that are responsible for research data management at the institution – but others from outside WHELF are welcome subject to space!

The workshops will be led by the British Library, who provide DataCite services in the UK and hosted by Bangor and Cardiff Universities. There will also be a hands-on demonstration of assigning DOIs. If you’re coming to a workshop, bring along a laptop (as long as it can access the wifi) so you can try it for yourself.
